Patient Expectations
Recovery depends on the extent of your procedure. Most patients return to work almost immediately, with vigorous upper-body workouts paused for 3–4 weeks.
What to Expect
During your consultation, you and Dr. Jones will decide whether liposuction or tissue excision is right for you. Liposuction removes excess fat through a small incision at the side of the chest. Excision is reserved for more significant glandular tissue or loose skin.
Procedures are performed on an outpatient basis under local or general anesthesia, and some patients can have it done under local anesthesia in the office. A compression garment is recommended for a few weeks afterward.
Who It's For
- Have enlarged breast tissue that remains after weight loss
- Have excess glandular tissue due to genetics or hormones
- Feel self-conscious about your chest
- Are in good overall health
FAQ
Why is surgery needed if I've lost weight?
For many men, enlarged tissue remains even after significant weight loss. Surgery permanently reduces it.
Will I need general anesthesia?
Depending on the extent of your surgery, local or general anesthesia is used. Some patients can have the procedure under local anesthesia in the office.
How long is recovery?
Return to work is usually almost immediate. A compression garment is worn for a few weeks, and vigorous upper-body workouts should wait 3–4 weeks.
Will there be scarring?
Dr. Jones takes special care to place delicate incisions to keep scarring minimal.
